For a saved alert, this is genuinely how often it's re-checked in the background — the scheduled job itself runs every 5 minutes, which is also the fastest a check can happen, so 5 minutes is both the default and the minimum. A longer interval here means it's skipped on some of those runs (e.g. 30 minutes = checked on 1 run out of every 6). Simulated currencies in this browser tab tick every few seconds regardless of this setting, so you can see the demo states without waiting.
